    I captured this image this morning at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D7000
    Nikon 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF-S ED shot at 400mm (600mm FFE)
    1/2000 F/7.1 Matrix Metering + 2/3 EV ISO 1400
    Post processed in Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC, burning patches of feathers for even exposure
    Cropped for composition and presentation

    This is a very nice presentation of the feather colouring and detail on a bird that viewed from afar usually just looks black and a touch oily.---and I love the detail you've caught in the eye here Joe. My only concern is I feel like the bill is a bit too silvery although upon reconsideration that does make for a lovely setting for the gem-like eye.

    Great preening pose. Nice exposure and detail on the black feathers. Would work nicely for either this month's theme or next month's. Love the eyes on these guys.
