    Default Killdeer in Flight.

From a couple of weeks ago. There was a small flock of 8-9 of these guys foraging to my left, making their way to the end of a strip of mud projecting into the water. I had a hunch that when reaching the tip of that strip they would fly over to the next one to my right, with a flight path that would have them fly right in front of me. As I was hoping, they did exactly that, and luckily I was able to get the camera to lock onto one of them and get a couple of good flight images. This one was my favorite for the downward wing stroke showing the neat marking of the wing.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped fro composition, eye work.

Great flight shot, sharp, with perfect downwing flight position. Well anticipated and executed.

Very nice. I have a lot of these guys near my house and have several shots of them on the ground but they are very hard to catch in flight. They are beautiful and you did a marvelous job.

Was just trying to get one of these in flight but it stayed too high so I did not bother taking any shots of it. This is all around perfect. Love the feet angle, wing position, sharpness, lines in the water and everything else. Great job on this.

A little rocket captured nicely. Beautiful wing position, nice background. Thank you for sharing, Daniel.

Tough to catch these guys in flight so well done on the forethought and reactions Daniel----perfect detail focus and beautifully exposed for the colours---and I like the slight turn of the head towards us.

I have a few good flight frames of this species but I can tell you, as you probably know, that are very difficult to get a decent flight frame of. They are fast and shifty even though they fly close by and land on the ground close.
Nice wings down pose with clean details. The light angle looks great too. One to be proud of

Hi Dan, well you certainly nailed the wing position here, which in turn shows up the detail and colours. Overall, tack sharp, and I do like the pastel blue of the water BG.
