    Well done on catching this fellow out in the open Richard. Usually when I spot them they are deep in a tree. f/8 gave you good DOF coverage on the bird and perfect focus on the eye really makes the red pop. I like the way it's got one toe stretched out to another branch of the perch for balance. I too have a 7DII and am wondering if you had to do much NR at this ISO and if so how you handled it.

    Thanks. NR in LightRoom is set to about 50 for luminance and 50 for color. I usually leave the other parameters where LR sets them but should learn to use them better. The 7DII is a bit noisy at high ISO but it is a huge improvement over my 50D and it cleans up quite nicely in post. I don't hesitate to use higher ISOs with it. I rarely shoot my 50D above 800.
