    Default Marmot

Just back after a few weeks hiking, chilling and having fun with friends, so any photo opportunities were going to be limited as I had to keep backpacking light, as weather can change and so clothes/kit were priority at 3-5000 ft.

Over the years I've known Marmots were around in some parts of our hikes and often saw them some 80m or so away, keeping their distance, darting back into their burrows, but you can always hear their whistles. So I was glad to come across this wee fellow who was using an old, abandoned ski lift 'hut'. Armed with only the 70-200 and 1.4 it meant good fieldcraft and close quarter combat, between his defence of scurrying off at any sign of danger and me trying to get close, but with minimal movement. Also with the cows using the high mountain pastures I had to pick my way through the grass - very carefully!!! We often played 'hide & seek' over the three encounters.

Thanks to those who viewed or posted a comment on the previous thread.

HI Steve -- Glad to see you back and looking forward to learn from your posts and comments .

This is almost macro shot as pointed out by Sanjeev. Very nice details and IQ . Not on a proper monitor to comment on colours but i find a bit of cyan creeping in across its face and body , but that just could be me .

    TFS !

Hi Steve - Welcome back! Good look at the marmot and your field craft paid off. Feels a little tight below but that feeling may be augmented by the space above. If it were mine I would reduce the blues on the head.

    Rachel

Thanks folks, just felt I wanted to break the 'African' theme and have some fun.

If it were mine I would reduce the blues on the head.
Not seeing any Blue guys and as part of the initial WF, Blue is reduced considerably.

Hi Steve good to see you getting down on your belly and got not trapped in sweet swiss cow dung .....
Your patience paid off quite well .
Sweet little guy and you captured him well , as always technically well presented and processed .
As a personal note i might give the frame overall a bit more tone ... over hole tonal spectrum . But keep the deep darks as presented .
I think you can loose a tiny bit of the top of the frame .
Will post a brother tonight ... ... from Austria

    TFS Andreas
