    Nice pose, but why not wait a little longer until the Okapi's face is either in the sun or shade. For me, the uneven lighting is more dominant than the subject. It is not like the subject is going to run away.

    Thanks. The enclosure is quite large and fences are a problem. I think the okapi is such a beautiful (and strange!) animal that I try to visit them each time I go to the zoo but rarely find them in as good a photographic situation as I did that day. Even so, the light is pretty uneven in all the images from this set. I prefer to go to our zoo in winter because there are fewer people and the foliage doesn't get in the way so much. Since Oklahoma summers are pretty hot, the animals are much more lively in the winter.

    Hi Richard, what an amazing looking animal, nice and sharp, great details, the shadows are just in the right place making the eye stand out. Good job, Ty for sharing.
