Default Atlantic Puffin against Latrabjarg Cliff

It was after 10:00 PM on a windy, rainy evening, and the Latrabjarg cliff face was in shadow. The way the cliff bends around, there is a spot where, with patience, you can lie on your belly and wait and hope a Puffin will clamber up to the top and pose against the dark cliff face beyond. No fish in the beak, no wingflap; but I liked this one because of the dark background.

I love the black background and yet you still have separation with the black feather, Bill. The white is very nicely exposed as I can see the feather details there very well.

I like the display of the environment and the dark BG, but I wish we could see the feet and that you had a slight head turn. the blacks in the neck area look like they have lost detail a bit

I really like this one. Agree that it would be ideal if we could see the feet but still think the combination of the grassy hill, the bird and that black background is great.

Good one, Bill. Under the conditions this is exceptionally well captured. I don't mind the virtual feet, and I like the highlights on the black back feathers. Great you were able to utilize the dark cliff face.

I like this one too. I think there are great details in the blacks, so much so that the nicely exposed blacks of the bird stand out well against the black BG. The side profile, nice colors and green perch all look great too. I didn't even notice the missing feet because I was enjoying the overall image so much. Well done Bill

It's certainly different and it works for me Bill. I really like the black on black, so can live without the clear feet, no wing flap etc.
