Arash, really sweet perspective on this fast flyer, nice eye contact, HA and BG, wing position is nice also.

Great shot. They are fast, unpredictable flyers and difficult to capture IF from my experience. Looks sharp with great eye contact.

Nice down wing stroke , catchlight and detail. These are shy in my area and I never managed to have an in flight photo. Well done.

Hi Ari, excellent wing position, and I like the curvature of the top of the body. I like the colours, and overall nice and sharp.

I've tried catching these guys in flight, but without much success. They are exceedingly fast. So congratulations on catching him, and with a perfect down-wing position. To my eye the image doesn't quite have the exquisite level of fine, sharp detail as most of your posts, so I'm wondering if 1/2500s isn't quite enough for such a speedster?

Wow, this is nice, Arash; I have seen this bird flying around before and they are really fast. I notice the legs are very sharp but the near wing is soft. Not sure if it is motion blur or depth of field; or probably both.

Hi Bill, the image looks tack sharp on my NEC 4K screen with lots of fine details. Thus I have no idea what you are seeing 1/2500sec is plenty for these guys

Adhika, the near and he far wings are going to be outside DOF , the goal in a flight shot is to the head sharp not the wings.

These guys are by far the most difficult shorebirds to get close to in NY. They are always around and are the first to fly. Great job getting him with perfect wing position and so close. Those 14 frames a second must help to capture the perfect wing position you have here. I agree with Bill on this one and it does not seem to have the same perfect feather detail to me as I am used to on your posts. The legs and back seem sharper than the head and bill to me.

I love the arc line from bill tip to tail tip. Good wing position, and the flight path low to the water is pretty neat.

The head looks pretty darn sharp to me, and as you mentioned, that's the most important thing. Actually the rest looks sharp too and the near wing is maybe just inside of the DOF but that's what many many flight shots have, the inside or outside wing is a hare out of the DOF but as long as the head is sharp, you nailed it, at least in my book. Nice wing position and details, especially for ISO 2500. Well done catching this fast flyer.

I like the full downstroke of the wing and the great eye contact. I think sharpness on the head is as good as it gets. I think the body doesn't appear sharp partly due to DOF but mostly due to the fact that the feathers have a soft quality and color that doesn't take well to sharpening.
