The crimson-backed sunbird or small sunbird (Leptocoma minima) is a sunbird endemic to the Western Ghats of India. Like other sunbirds, they feed mainly on nectar although they take insects, especially to feed their young. They are tiny birds that are resident and are found in forests but are particularly attracted to gardens at the edge of the forest where people grow suitable flower-bearing plants. They usually perch while taking nectar.

Although resident in many areas, they may make altitudinal movements in response to rains. In some areas they move to the foothills during the monsoons and move to the higher regions after the rains.

Harikamal, beautiful bird and nice perch and BG, overall needs some sharpening and I would try to bring out a bit more details in the blacks.

Beautiful species with great colours. I like that you went for a vertical here with the long thin perch. Good BG. I do find the image a tad dark. Thanks for the info on this species' habits!

Looks good. Love the colours throughout the image. Lovely pose and perch, I would maybe try and lift the shadows a wee bit under the chin area, and brighten up the image a little.

Hi Harikamal, lovely angled pose, and I like your comp with the bird perched high on the plant. Another vote for bringing out more exposure and sharpness.
