It's the time of year when we get a lot of migratory birds through Oklahoma. Today I saw three of these at a local lake. I've been trying to ID them without success. It may be a hybrid of some type or even a domestic duck given how totally unconcerned they were with my presence. Anybody recognize them?

plausibly not a mutt, Richard. It is a breed of domestic duck progenitor the mallard,it's called a magpie. Richard magpie marking vary greatly ,what the standard (leatways our brit poultry standard asks for) is a specific set of markings such as a cap black wings white black back etc etc . So many magpie ducks don't make the grade for the show bench, consequently I suppose some get dumped and this drake is probably one of those. a dual purpose bird good egg layer but also a far carcass
The shape /type is right for magpie mate,so it probably is a man made pure breed, just not the best example of one
