A very Oklahoma subject here. This behemoth was photographed at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in southern Oklahoma. The Wichita Mountains are our little secret in Oklahoma but I will let folks here in on the secret. A native mixed grass prairie that has never been plowed that is surrounded by ancient low granite mountains. It's and area that is important to the Apache, Comanche, and Kiowa people and Geronimo is buried nearby. Like I said - pure Oklahoma.

    This bull was photographed with a Canon 50D and Tamron 70-300 VC @ 191mm. ISO 100. 1/160 @ f5.0.

Hi Richard - Nice look at the bison. Good prairie colors though if it were mine I would reduce the reds. It's a little tight in frame but that seems to be what you were going for. I do wish it was more parallel to the sensor rather than angled slightly away from you. The blacks are a bit choked. You needed more ss here. I would have gone to ISO 400 or 800 and upped the ss.

The best way to get the most out of BPN (and to get comments on your own images) is comment on other images. We recommend commenting on at least 3-5 other wildlife images each time you post one of your own. It helps foster a sense of community and allows us to all learn from each other. Your comments do not have to be technical in nature. Just tell us what you like and/or don't like about an image.

    TFS,
    Rachel
