    Default A Fisheye Frog-scape

I used my Sigma 15mm Fisheye lens to create this frog-scape of a large, male Bullfrog on Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound, Ontario. This image was created handheld from the canoe, which is how I often photograph the Bullfrogs however, I found out the hard way that one must do so with care. During my last stay at the cottage it appears that while leaning over the edge of the canoe my underarm was pressing on the gunwale of the canoe, which has seriously affected my left arm (a ton of pain and numbness in thumb and index finger)...I am now undergoing treatment for a very painful pinched nerve.

    Handheld

Looking forward to comments and suggestions.

Hi Andrew, I think the choice of lens was perfect here, it's a great fun lens and personally, I too had some nice images when used in Svalbard, so kudos.

Looking forward to comments and suggestions.
My only thought would be to burn in that cloud reflection bottom LH corner on the bottom trim, but still a pleasure to view.

Just a thought, but if you have a sequence of these, with a small history snapshot about the location, issues taking these images etc, this would be a great posting in Gabriela's Story Sequences and I think quite a few members would benefit from your insight.

In the meantime, hope that pinched nerve gets fixed soon.

    All the best.
    Steve

Hi Andrew - Sorry to hear about your pinched nerve. When you started out the story I was envisioning it ending with a dunked camera or overturned canoe. Fun use of the fisheye lens. I like the placement of the frog in the frame. I might consider darkening the greens of the bg trees but obviously I wasn't there. Nice one and I always look forward to your frog images.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Another cracker of a frogscape here Andrew, with perfect use of the fisheye creating a great overall habitat/environment.

Thanks so much Rachel, Steve, and Marc...I appreciate the kind words.

Steve - I did burn the cloud reflected in the lower left but perhaps not quite enough...will burn it a little further and will check to see if I have some images that would work for the sequences :)

A really cool perspective and rich colours adds to this one, Andrew.
Best of luck with that nerve, ouch!

HI ANdrew -- These have been one of the very best frog scapes that you have posted here , and this one is my favourite for sure . I liked the way you have imagined the frame executed it so well . Will also look great on a large print !!

    TFS !
