Semipalmated Sandpiper Marching Downhill.
I photographed this juvenile a couple of weeks ago in sweet early morning sunlight. It was heading down the slope towards the water's edge.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, just about FF, usual eyework, a couple of small distracting items removed from the sand.
Lovely lighting you got here Dan. Great POV as usual. Lovely colours and detail on the bird with a nice HA. Love the raised foot covered in grains of sand. Blends all together with a nice BG.

A lovely image Dan. William said it all. My kind of light, an interesting and very different pose and a perfect background. The kind of image I would love to have taken. Truly an inspiration to keep at it.
Splendid light Daniel, and really like the raised foot with grains of sand. Also, the BG and FG blur is terrific with the focused sand. very nice image.
Beautiful light, great pose, POV. And your "usual eyework" is top notch.
Wonderful image. I may be wrong but I think that this is a juvie Least Sandpiper. For starters, there are no semipalmations between the toes. And though some semis can be very warm they would never be this warm. And the bill with its fine tip is perfect for a female least.

I heard from Julian :( I was, as I suspected, wrong.
I would call this a juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper - dark legs, rather thick-based bill and clean central breast that looks whitish. The head pattern is clean and overall this doesn't fit Least.
