The last of my three loon shots. This one happened pretty much all at once. He popped up right beside my boat, maybe a yard and a half away, with no time for me to go for a front-end vertical. Either push the button in landscape mode or lose the shot as he swims away. The blacks and whites need to be brought out a little more than what they are, but I'm waiting on that until I get my calibrator fixed.

Would anyone crop it just a tiny bit to lessen the space between the tip of the beak and the right edge of the frame?

nice head shot, exposure looks good but it can use a bit more sharpening. Wish the BG was less distracting without the bright reflections. it looks like the image needs CW rotation

    Hello,

    i agree with arash ,
for me it looks like the bird is swimming a little bit up and it is nearly TO near not enough space around ?

The eye looks great! I suppose a bit more sharpening would do well for the fine texture on the face. I like the comp and would leave it as is.

    Nice meeting you yesterday....

Thanks to all for the critiques! I never saw it, but I agree with Arash: the bird is swimming uphill just a bit. I'll adjust for rotation (with as judicious a crop as possible to preserve the space in front) and add a bit of sharpness. This current file is not yet sharpened.

Sharp, too tight--you already knew that, swimming uphill, and the rest as noted by all above.
