Sometimes when I have places to go I drop my Canon S2IS in my backpack just in case there is something worth photographing.
Yesterday I was fortunate to get my first digital images of a White Heron : Egretta alba with the S2.
Details: Sun behind me late morning.
    Canon S2IS.Centre weighted.
    100 ISO. 1/1600 sec @ F3.5, minus 1/3 EVA.

Hi Ian, I think the common name is Great White Egret, I'll have someone else chime in.
The plumage looks a little soft, although well exposed. Wish the BG were not so cluttered.
Keepthem coming and congrats on going digital!

    Thanks Fabs
I agree that the images using the Canon digicam are a bit softer than I'm used to with the Pentax digital SLR but I quite like the look !!!
Bit like an ad for Lux soap powder !!!!
Then again I might have gone a bit heavy on the Levels.
It is commonly called White Heron or Kotuku in New Zealand but Great Egret by the more ornithologically inclined !!
