Hi Keith, looks like you are nailing this subject and I like the way you have taken onboard previous comments, it's helped here for sure. Colour looks good, with nice detail and I love the contrast between plumage and the weathered wood, creates interest IMHO. The black backdrop provides standout and is a nice change, but natural. I would just cmd in a fraction on the RHS to loose the half circle in the wood. Tweaking the Tonal Curve in the quarter tones just brings a bit more depth/life to the lighter whites. Be nice to see both feet, however they often balance on one and draw in the second back into the body plumage.
Try going to ISO3200 next time.

Good for the most part. The one foot showing is an important element to add interest. Seems a tad soft on my monitor - surely an addition round of sharpening for web would help. I am also seeing some subtle colour noise speckled throughout the otherwise neat black BG.
this is a fine job, i agree with cropping to lose the half circle on the branch on the right side. I like the BG and the raised foot. The eyes really are lovely and i agree with a tad bit more sharpening, a winner keith, way to go.
Thanks Steve,Dan and Ann.Dan I have this as a raw file and a j peg ,bit lazy I know should have worked on the raw file which I could have removed the colour you mention, will certainly look at my sharping .Here is my repost with a bit more sharping.
Keith.

Keith why are you shooting both RAW & JPEG, Raw is far superior and you are taking up valuable space and time in writing to the card? Stick to RAW for the future.I have this as a raw file and a j peg![]()
Nice one Keith. The owl stands out so well against that BG. Nice detail on the owl and the perch looks good as well.

Thanks Will much appreciated.
