A Western Tanager that a sharp-eyed granddaughter spotted near the top of Grouse Mountain in Colorado's Mueller State Park. Shot with a Tamron 70-300 VC at 300mm on a Canon 7DII. 1/1600 @ f8. ISO 2500. Some noise reduction, vignetting, and slight cropping applied.
The bird was sitting on the only bare tree in a heavily wooded area and allowed me to get pretty close before deciding to leave.
Hi Richard, a big welcome to BPN from me, and a great place to share and learn as you go along the journey. A lovely colourful subject with a good HA ( head angle ) and although the BG is pretty busy, intentionally or not, you have framed the bird against the trunk of the tree nicely to show him up. The placement of the bird in the frame works well. In an ideal world, capturing this shot with a cleaner BG would make a huge difference, but we cannot always ask our feathered friends to perch in those perfect places.
Welcome. The image design is nice; it's good to have the bird off center. But the setting is horribly cluttered and the yellows and reds are oversaturated.
