Another shot I haven't posted anywhere before, I photographed this male Wood Duck in April. It was the first time I had found tame birds that were on a small pond (instead of Lake Ontario), which gave me something other than a blue watery background.
I waited until the birds were mostly shadowed, but the red dogwoods and crack willows were still sunlight. Then used the flash to light the birds (giving both a bright and colourful bg and bird).
I had a hard time sharpening the file at this smaller size, so I would be interested to see if you think it looks good or not.
Hey Brandon. Great to see you posting here! Your images are always a treat and this one is no exception. Gorgeous bird and water. To my eyes it looks like it needs a touch of CCW rotation. The sharpening looks good to me.
Great image Brandon. Great light and water colors. Sharpening looks good, I'm not sure if it needs rotation, could be the angle but I would desaturate it a little.

I think the coloring of the wood duck is beautiful and the warm coloring on the water is great. Rotation and slight desaturation could be helpful. Nicely captured.
Well done. Agree witht the slight desat, but here is the #1 professional Wood Duck image tip: Select the iris and deSAT the reds about 15 points... I do it with every WD image.
later and love, artie
