I photographed this adult Least Sandpiper that is still retaining much of its breeding plumage very late in the evening at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens, New York. Lying down in who knows what kind of muck and poop and bacteria. I know the shot is a bit dark but I like the mood of it.

Canon 7d2 and Canon 500 f4 ii + 1.4x iii. ISO 400, F8, SS 1/1600. Tripod mounted with legs fully extended.

Converted in DPP 4. Auto White Balance. In PS I sharpened, cropped and applied noise reduction to background.

Cool! I love seeing all the different types of plumages on these shorebirds. I had two mottling adult Sanderlings this morning up here and the patterns are interesting to study. Great low angle, my type of photography, bacteria and all!. I do not find the image too dark, looks just right to me. I love the individual strands of grasses
