Default Least sandpiper on the Rocks

Around here (the edge of the Minas Basin, Nova Scotia), getting close to shorebirds depends entirely on the tides, which are the highest in the world. At high tide it can be possible to get fairly close. Here is a juv. plumaged Least sandpiper roosting on some rocks. Nikon D7100, Nikon 300mm F4-PF-VR with 1.4TC, hand-held, 1/1600 at f10.0, ISO1250. Light crop and processed in Lightroom 5.7, then Noiseless Pro.

    Thanks for looking, and commenting.

Hi Richard, I like the pose and the colourful feathers of the bird. The background unfortunately is a little distracting. I may have considered using a much lower fstop to help blur out the background. I think you may have also been able to select a lower ISO, which my have helped further with the image quality. Thanks for sharing.

Not a big fan of the rocks but everything else is spot on: EXP, IQ, SH, and image design.

    When was the image created?

Thanks Richard, There might be a few juvies at Jamaica Bay now but the water levels at the Eat Pond are so high that photography is near-impossible at best :(

A nice fresh juvenile with beautiful colours. I also agree the setting is unfortunate, but the little guy is a joy to look at. Lots of peeps around here the past week....and I am "stuck" at home looking at the local photographers' images posted online...it's tough and this image makes me look forward even more to finally getting out!!
