Hi Sanjeev -- This is a lovely portrait ! Nice BG as well . Lovely details and sharpness . I think the highlights are just clipping above the eye where the light is hitting . This is very nicely framed and colours in the BG looks lovely .

    TFS !

Hi Sanjeev, nice and simple and I like the light hitting the LH eye, it just brings some life into the portrait. You could have easily squeaked some more SS here, always better to have more than less, especially resting on your knees. The highlights in the BKG are a tad distracting, but nothing you could have done. No idea if this is a crop or FF, but if FF then I feel you could loose some of the dead space to the left. Have you applied any NR, the BKG just seems very smooth???

Thanks Steve and Haseeb. Steve, no NR applied to the BG as files of 5D3 are generally clean at that ISO. Agree about more SS. Don't know what I was thinking and forgot to change setting. Am planning to change my 7D II body and go for either 1DX 2or 5D4(when that comes). What's your take on 5Ds?

Sanjeev, are you referring to the 5Ds R? Think about file size, 50MB before you process, do you really require such files?

I think moving away from the 7D is right, however you really need to think what, where and how much you will shoot and ultimately the price. Normally the 5D update isn't too far off the 1DX, although I have not seen/heard anything, but I have not actively been looking.

The 1DX I or MKII weight is more than either of your current bodies, likewise you would need perhaps two chargers when away, however I think the 5D4 will be in line with the new 1DX MKII battery, likewise if Canon have sense, have two C/Fast slots, but you then have a cost implication for the cards. Also you will be back to FF sensors. Is your 500mm lens a MKI or MKII, as the current new bodies work better with the MKII lens and MKIII extenders.

So you are all set then.

Seems the rumours are saying 25th August for the 5DMKIV in the US, but dates are always a movable feast.

Hi Sanjeev - Great that you finally got to see Wild Dogs. Nice simple portrait. Agree about the ss and the highlights in the bg.

Really like the colours and light in this.
Did you tone down bright parts of the dog face? Some parts look a bit muddied?
I would consider the 5Dsr if you are into your animalscapes and landscapes - that resolution makes for amazing printing and also cropping potential.

Lovely portrait. I like the framing, background and perfect light. Just catch his right eye.
