    Default Wild Dog Puppy

One of the highlights of our trip this year was wild dogs! In my 4 years of shooting in Africa, this was the first time I ever saw wild dogs. And oh what a sighting it was! We saw 7-8 adults & the icing on the cake was seeing 11 puppies!!!!! Off-roading is allowed in Selous game reserve & we made the most of it by approaching cautiously the den of these amazing animals early in the morning to witness the drama. The puppies were 1 month old & it was awesome to see the adults coming back & regurgitating the food for the puppies and the little ones clamouring for them. Most of the time they were running around in the bushes making it difficult to get a clear un obstructed view/shot of them.
This was a little one curious to see who or what we were! The den was in a little valley and our land rover was at an incline of 20 degrees slope parked at the edge of the bushes. I was lucky to have him in the open for a few seconds. Hope you like it.

Hi Sanjeev -- Nice to see you posting again and good to here that you got opportunity to photograph these wonderful creatures . You have nicely framed this image , the head on view looks great. The FG is a bit distracting but after seeing all the posts on BPN i have learned that they are quite difficult to find in a very clean setting . I see a big halo around its back and coming down all the way to its left leg .

Enjoyed viewing this cute character and TFS !

Thanks Haseeb. Here is a RP taking care of the halo issue and cropped a bit to remove a bit of the FG. Tamed the HL in upper right area.

Hi Sanjeev always a great experience to see WD pups, especially if they have just emerged from the den. Very playful and curious but often still staying close to home. The RP is certainly better. I might be tempted to reduce the blue, but again you are cautious with the SS, if these guys are moving towards you the lens will work harder and the closer they get the faster you have to be.

Hi Sanjeev - Always fun to see wild dog puppies, especially such young ones. Nice inquisitive pose and the rp is an improvement. Once again, agree with Steve on blues and ss in the field. You definitely have steady hands but lots of factors would make me aim for a higher ss if possible.

    Rachel

Very cute, and such a special sighting!
I agree on the comments about blues (might also open up shadows just a tad).
Angle doesn't look too bad at all in this frame (thanks to the 500mm no doubt)
