The first set-up bird photography I have ever tried.
The Chickadee I posted the other day was the first photo posted.
These are captured from a backyard hide in a tiny urban backyard.
The birds are attracted by suet off screen. I provided the perch and the
BG, which is a Northwest Hydrangea, a colorful ever changing flowering plant.
I have very low light, but I think I have shot in it so long that the results are
not that noticeable.
600mm (300 f2.8 w/ 2x), 1/500 sec., f8, iso3200, Nikon D610, Tripod.
Vertical crop from Horizontal, about 35% of original. PP in ACR, NX2.
Setups a re fun, glad you are experiment with them. You'll soon find out that you can get much closer to your subjects with backyard setup photography - you will not have to crop so much, and being closer to them, while keeping the background at the same distance behind the bird as currently, will also make your BG smoother.
