    Hi everyone,
I am back from a fascinating & fruitful trip to Selous Game Reserve & Ruaha NP in Tanzania (28th July to 3rd Aug 2016). Had some amazing game viewing and came back with boat load of images. Need to sort them out but couldn't help but start posting again on BPN as I was missing out on you great folks stuff!!!!
Starting out with one of a fave image of mine.
These were a mating couple at Ruaha NP. The male was distracted by another female who was trying to woo him while he was on the job! There were 2 males & 3 female lions at the spot. For the first time we witnessed 2 pairs mating at the same time & taking turns with the third female as well
    Hope you like it.
Sadly, will miss Andre's comments here.

Hi Sanjeev - Welcome back and good to see you posting again. Great expressions and tension here. I do think you needed a bit more ss. I like the placement in frame but find the bright area under the bush on the right a bit distracting. Perhaps tame it a bit.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Dear Sanjeev,

You captured something really special here, love the movement and interaction from the subjects, as well as expression.

Well framed, nice aperture and the subjects are sufficiently isolated from the busy BG, I agree with Rachel on the bright bit (be is stone or sand etc) it is a tad distracting, but it can be fixed.

The only problem I see here is not enough Shutter Speed. Already mentioned by Rachel I know, but I had to say it again so that you'll remember next time.

Andre would have liked this a lot, he loved lions so much and was especially fond of those young mischievous males.

Thank you Sanjeev, I enjoyed viewing, looking forward to more images from this recent trip.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Sanjeev -- I echo above thoughts specially regarding the SS . Great to have you back and posting . I loved the expression of the Cats and would love to see more from this wonderful sighting . The BG is not ideal here but the moment makes up for it .

    TFS !

Hi Sanjeev, to me you chose the wrong body, I would have gone for the 5D and ramped up the ISO, IQ would have been far better here IMHO. To me the focus appears to be on the female which in this instance I feel is right, but having a faster SS you would have also frozen the male too, he looks a bit soft. Prior I would have focused on the male ready for the roar!!!! A bit more below would be good I feel. Also did you take into account the Case settings too? Might back off on the Contrast and or some black???

HI Sanjeev.....Great catch! I personally do not think the focus on the male is that far off! I would darken the foreground grass and try to add some variations in shading. The bg rock is very distracting I would either crop it out or tone it down. Nice work on this!

Cool moment Doc, and glad you had a good trip.
To me the male is acceptably sharp in this situation - you could surely not have traded even more ISO on the 7D2 for DOF and SS?
I agree with Steve some selective contrast adjustments could help. Like their expressions...
