    Default whimbrel chick

Usually there are birds around when you stop somewhere in Iceland, for a waterfall! A noisy redshank at first, then a whimbrel, then a black tailed godwit, then a sweet chick. While sitting on the bank, id try my best to get a "clean" shot, but the terrain doesn't offer minimal vegetation. I chose to leave the grasses and scrubby items as is, a natural habitat for these grassland birds. I lasso-ed a few blurred blobs in front and lightened the eye. Im okay with missing the waterfall!
How do i use the quick selection tool for the fine fluff at the edge of the bird? Thanks for your help.

The vegetation doesn't bother me at all. I think this is a very lovely image, Ann. I love how the vegetation is a little denser on the bird's side which creates a base to the bird.

Lovely capture of this cute puffball, Ann. I like the vegetation included here, and your BG. Wish for some catch light but I understand that is usually difficult with chicks.

Sweet! The chick is adorable, and I love the vegetation. Everywhere I walked in Iceland, I felt as if I were trodding on someone's precious garden.

Very well done getting this image of the chick. I have never seen any where I live. I'd plant a catchlight in the eye...of it goes with your photo ethics. Well done, Ann.

I like the environment in this shot, it goes well with this little guy. Sweet BG, sharp and nice colors.
I would just add a bit more contrast to make it pop a little more if it were mine.

Gorgeous bird, with gorgeous BG. It suits the little guy well. All the good things already said. My only suggestion would be to tone down the OOF, brown seed head in front of the bird.

    Very sweet indeed.

Very nice Ann, well done. The colours throughout are amazing, and such good detail on the chick. couldn't have asked for a better BG.
