    Default Huntington Beach State Park

Is there anything interesting to see here in late June/early July?

    AJ,
Huntington Beach State Park is pretty slow during the months of June and July. The best time to see a variety of interesting birds is August through end of April/early May.

I just got back a couple of days ago. You are correct that it would be pretty slow. The most productive spot was at the causeway. There was one large group of various species here. Mostly egrets and herons and a few skimmers. There was a painted bunting around the education center, but I could not get a good image of him as I left my Better Beamer at home (Doh!). I did have him lined up in good light after creeping up on him (took about 10 minutes), but a truck drove by right as I was about to hit the shutter.
