Hi Rachel,
Bison in sunlight do lend themselves to B&W.. You handled exposure in the dark head perfectly. Nice diagonal line formed by the head (upper left to lower right). Sharp with great detail.. Grass is a bit of a problem but I'm sure you realize that but that's where they live. Very nice work!

Hi Rachel -- You very nicely portrayed this image , the conversion works with all those in its fur and the grass is complementing the dark face . I personally enjoyed viewing this image .

Certainly a very well exposed image that is very suitable for BW treatment, which you have done very well.

Hi Rachel lovely portrait of this impressive species .
You created great detail and some nice tonality within the subject .Crop and comp does work well , just wish the grass was not interesting with the subject , but for sure not a deal breaker .
Not 100 % sure of the toning and i might create a bit more tonal difference between the grass and the neck area of the Bison , just a thought .
Lovely work and i enjoyed viewing this .

Nicely framed and good juxtaposition of the bison fur and the grass as contrast elements, Rachel.
I agree with Andreas, can see it with a tad more tonal range/contrast to make it pop?

Hi Rachel, yep have to agree with the above, a bit more tonal range to give some depth & richness to the portrait, it just looks a bit thin. Would have liked the far right blade of grass not to have overlapped the nose.
