The Masked Lapwing, Spur-winged plover or plover (Vanellus miles) is mostly a ground dwelling bird. The birds have spurs on the elbow joints (not visible here) and aren't afraid to use them if you wander to close to a nest.

Basic adjustments in ACR. In PS - Hue/Sat adjustment layers. Dark area on top LHS cloned out. Cropped and smart sharpened for posting.

Beautiful looking and well captured bird, Glennie. Exceptionally lovely light you had to work with. Like the walking stance and what appears to be his concentration on something. Low POV and BG very appealing.

Another lovely image Glennie. Your getting some great photographs with that camera and lens . I love the detail especially on the feathers. Great POV and a nice BG which fits good. Good controls of the blacks. At first I thought the HA was away from us, but looking closer, the eye appears to make it look like that. Still wish for a wee bit better HA.

    Good work

Very nice as noted above. What I would love to see is about a two-three degree head turn toward us. Do you have one?

Thank you Artie. Yes. I have similar with more head turn, but of course, not sharp enough, distracting BG, etc etc. I'll see what I can salvage.
