I have a soft place for shorebirds so I will always click on an image of one. Have always wondered why we don't ever get a Redshank that comes down the east coast of the US but that is another story. I love the bird in the grasses and those great little flowers.
Considering the highish ISO I think you did well but I think you could get more out of the bird. The background is a little distracting to me. I love a grass background but ideally it would be more in the distant and just fade into a green blur.
Had a quick go at cloning out the rock. Also used detail extractor and tonal contrast on the bird and grass and toned down the contrast and structure of the background. Hope you don't mind. Thoughts?

Nice job on the rock, Isaac. Thanks for taking the time. I came back with scores (no, probably hundreds) of frames of this species, so I wasn't sure I wanted to do that much intervention on this one. But your masterful cloning makes me want to go back and have another go at it.

Hi Bill,
My goodness these guys were everywhere weren't they? And they are so noisy!
Isaac has done a lovely job of cloning the OOF rock out.
I like the head on calling pose.

Great eye contact, Bill. Beautiful light and colorful habitat. Love the bright orange legs and beak of these ubiquitous serenaders.

Isaac's RP made it for me. I really like how the flowers create a nice foreground to this image, Bill. I think your have good DOF on the bird but at the cost of the BG. Such is life, I suppose.
