    Has this ever happened to you?
    You go to your special location expecting to create wonderful Avian images, only to find that the birds had plans at a different location.

    Well is time to make some chicken salad out of the chicken poo that was served.

    This is 15 minutes before sunrise.
    Ballast Point Pier

    The camera and tripod are set up on a concrete pad at the base of the pier.

    This is a 30 second exposure. I ran out onto the pier and stopped, I moved forward and stopped 2 more times before I ran off the pier.

    I was stopped down to F22 for the "Star Burst" effect on the lights.

    I used the nails on the pier to align myself with the lights.

    As you can tell, I don't go home without creating "some kind" of image!

    James, Way-cool self-portrait! A big crop from the bottom improves it quite a bit for me. Why? All the foreground boards keep the viewer's eyes from the cool stuff...
