Default Grey seal youngster from Helgoland

Hi folks quickly contributing to this month theme with an image taken earlier this year during my first winter shooting on Helgoland .... as i have been there before only in spring/ summer
This fella was already left alone by his mum ... and started moulting during the time i stayed there .
Being patient with the approach ... normally no issue in getting close without stressing the animal ... luckily there have not been that many other visitors or photogs .
I personally like the warm afternoon sun of the winter in this frame

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    Ef 70-200 2,8 IS L at 200 mm
    HH

    F 5,6 ; Iso 500 ; 1/1600 sec

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; slight crop from all sides for composition

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Well you managed to 'saddle up' quite quickly Andreas.

Love the colour palette (warm sun) and low POV here, although personally I would have like a bit more head turn towards you, so those 'dinner plate' eyes to pull you in. It also has the cute factor too. Good that you managed to have access and close proximity to shoot with a small lens. Nice one.

Yes Steve ..... the horse stood still for a second so i took the chance .... even if the weather was perfect for motor biking
I also think the image would look better with the eyes more towards the viewer .... but then i had not the flipper up !!
So taking the best of both worlds , that he gave me , and took the shots

    Thanks again Andreas

Often as you know only too well Andreas, things can be a trade off at times, still a nice image.

I also think the image is quite ok .... i think in most images there is something that could be better ... ... a reason to return and try again in Dec this year

Hi Andreas - I looked at this from the office but wanted to see it on proper monitor. Beautiful warm light. Nice tones and details. I like the sort of wave. Agree about the eyes but by no means a deal breaker. Great low pov too.

    Rachel

Hi Andreas -- Excellent details and it is very sharp . Loved the look on its face . Arent they dangerous ? Is getting close to them safe enough ?

    TFS !

Those colours and tones are quite remarkable - well Done Andreas I think it is a peach of a shot. Ina a perfect world the left eye would have been more visible but I would accept this shot anytime.
