Just wanted to add this to this months Theme Stu.
This year they have not breed and have been far more elusive, however they are still 'quartering' within in the area, occasionally passing & stopping by. This one had some debris embedded in the plumage in the rear, but I left it in. Not the most ideal BKG, but all natural, as the tall grasses have not yet be cut in the meadow. The pipe is an old rusty one from bygone days, and as per previous images, I do like the colour and texture of this weathered stuff, as I feel it's a nice contrast to the soft plumage of the subject. The LH end of the pipe is angled away I think, as the sharpness tails off.
Thanks to those who viewed or posted a comment on the previous thread.

Subject: Little owl (Athene noctua) in tall grass on rusty pipe
Location: UK
Camera: Canon 1DX MK2
Lens: 500f/4 MKII & 2x MKIII Gitzo/Uniqball head
Exposure: 1/1000s at f/8 ISO1250 EV +0.33 (Certainly I feel the EV is greater than on the MK1 or previous bodies)
Original format: Landscape, almost FF on width
Processed via: LRCC (2015) & PSCC 2015
Note: The subject is fully wild and completely unconstrained. Besides the potential impact of my presence, nothing has been done to intentionally alter or affect the ongoing behavior of the subject and, of course, there has been no use of any form of bait or other form of wildlife attractants (including vocalisations) in the capture of this image.
