    Default Question on lens

I have come across a canon 600mm f4 lens that does not have is. It is in new condition and is a great price. But it does not have is, and my question is does it really matter? Since I will only be using a lens this big on a tripod. Dont most people shut off is on a tripod anyways? Is the lens iq just as good with is or without? Thanks in advance.

It is not worth it. The non IS vintage lenses were made in the 80's for film cameras. the IQ is not going to be great on a modern digital camera the AF is slow and the lens is very heavy.

and IS shouldn't be turned off even on tripod unless you are doing a long exposure.

    hope this helps
