    Default Arctic Tern

I was lucky a few weeks ago to have Arctic, Common and Roseate terns feed in front of me for 3 hours one day with the sun behind me (but still a bit high in the sky). I'm debating if this crop really works (I'm not in the habit of cutting parts off my birds) but I think the story here is the details of the water coming off the back, legs, and beading on it's head, as well as seeing the fish and it's eye. That led me to a very tight cop, maybe too tight. I do have a wider view of the full bird, but the details seem lost in it. Happy to hear if you think this works. I realize that I haven't smoothed out the background, but my skill level to separate the background from all the action isn't up to par.

Sweet Simon, I usually don't care for clipped wings but this one works with the intensity of action, sharp details and those water drops! I also like that we can see the fish's head. I only wish you had softer light to work with

The crop works for me, love the water droplets, head position and the fish.
    Great capture.

Agree that I don't usually find these cropped images pleasing but this one has so much interest that I like it. I do wish for a tad more canvas on top.

Simon, I too am finding my way with hard crops. I like the energy here and this image puts into perspective how much work these birds have to do for such a small morsel.

I find my eyes begging for more below, perhaps in the form of trailing water droplets. Maybe more canvas all round for me.

On a side note; it may be my old eyes, but is there a halo around the birds head? I thought there may have been one on the Guillemot image as well. No one mentioned it. So I am most likely wrong!

    Well done on this image!

A lot of interesting things are going on in this image and I like it a lot. I also wish for more room above. TFS.
