    Default Kalahari jackal

An inquisitive male Black-backed Jackal approaches me as I sat on the ground and stares directly into my lens.

Some may not like the tall grass stalks, but feel it adds some context here.

I'm off to Loisaba/Nth Kenya tracking Wild Dog (hopefully) tomorrow and will see you all in just over 2 weeks.

    Cheers

Hi Marc - very nice head on stare and dof works. Some of the chest looks a little hot. I don't mind the tall grass stalks. I find the blur on the body a bit more distracting. Presume the strong reds are from the Kalahari sands. Have a great trip.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Marc -- Very nice image ! I too don't mind the grass at all in-fact it is adding to the image but the OOF grass on the chest area is a bit distracting .Nonetheless it is a very nice image .

    TFS !

Nice eye level shot here mate, with good DOF for me (I like animals emerging from mushy FG/BG combos).
Looks like nose/snout could use a little more sharpening? Have a super safari!
