Default Composition #5 - Museum of Modern Art, NYC

I loved the composition of the tables and screens and the people watching the slides shows (or tutorials, I'm not sure - each one was different I guess because they had started at different times.)

I had to tear myself away from a lot of these scenes so that I could actually go explore the exhibits. The reason I had gone to NYC was to see an exhibition of Degas monotype prints at MOMA which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was surprised (in answer to Hazel's question) that all the museums I went to allowed photography. There were certain rooms (and certain paintings) where photography wasn't allowed but that was the exception.

    Thanks for looking.

In all of these, I like the play of white (or off-white) against color. The color and range of color tones in this one is wonderful. All the opposing lines add something to it, as well.

Like this one, too. I kinda wish the walkers on the right were not there so that the plain lines of the building surround those in the middle, but it doesn't ruin the photo

couldn't resist seeing what it might look like without the walkers on the right. hastily done here but gives the idea. Maybe it's too plain now.

Hi, Hazel, thanks for working on this. It is plain on that side now but it matches the plain-ness of the opposite side so that's not a bad thing. It prompted me to at least clean up the edge - I definitely like it better than the OP. I'll have to think a bit on whether I like this one or your version better

Maybe a mixture? My version needs definite help on the right side, but I really like your crop. The extended angles beyond the frame really help. Actually, I don't mind the "walkers" on the right now that they don't overtake the central vision.

Love the composition on this one. I actually like both your and Hazel's interpretation on the walkers on the right. Maybe a slight edge to Hazel's. But what Dennis said is true. The off white really ties the series together. For me, the square shape works made the scene for me and thank you so much for retaining all details in the screen. It really showcase your attention to details in these photos.

Getting closer. the folks on the bench on the right frame edge need to go. My favorite part is the tan shape upper right. Is that an open stairwell???

    Cheryl,

Greetings. Another winner (the cleaned frame #5). I particularly like how one seems to be peering into a cut away floor with the stairs accentuating the depth of the image. Additional contrast on the wires over the white wall top middle would work for me. Great series.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Thanks everyone for viewing these and commenting. Artie (and Hazel) was right - I should have done some edge cleanup before posting. Here's a very quick clean up of the edge Artie mentioned.
