When I first saw this, my eyes were riveted on the helicopter. I knew there was something in the lower part of the image, but I had to consciously look at it. It wasn't until I took it into Photoshop, where the background is set to Medium Gray rather than the dark one I use in BPN, that I realized there was a wall on the right side. Lightening the wall with Levels helped it to guide my vision into the lower part of the image but not a lot. Then I flipped it horizontally and got a real appreciation of the image. Now, the helicopter points to the series of horizontals. Like steps, they lead me down to the interesting elements below. From there, the now more visible verticals and diagonals in the wall do their part in taking my eye back to the helicopter.

Thanks, Dennis, I like what you did! I like the color image also. I'll try to remember to post it also.

I'm back from my trip and still computerless (as far as processing images goes). I'm using an old Mac laptop for email, etc.
Ican't find m y post askng for computer advice. I want to thank the respondents. I've ended up ordering an iMac, with a 27" display. Arrives the 20th.
I like this image. The weirdness of the helicopter cockpit sticking out of the wall and the interesting geometric shapes surrounding it, make it an image I want to look at longer. I'm equally happy with the OP and
Dennis' version. I would crop out the human being at the bottom and part of the solid shape from which the helicopter seems to hang. I might also straighten the vertical lines.
It works extremely well in B & W. Well seen and composed!

Cheryl,
Greetings. Interesting geometry but the dark wall on the right bothers me. I played with it for a while and realized the over all tonality is pretty dark compared to the others in the series. Toned up and orange (soft light blend) fill layer pulled it up to my taste. What I particularly like about the composition is how the curved triangular and edge of another in the bottom center hints at helicopter blades.

Cheers,

I like your toned version, Michael.

I like Michael's toned image and would keep the person who lends an element of perspective. Perhaps a bit more at the bottom to include the person's feet. Previous dings in the wildlife forums have made me sensitive to this issue.
