Hard to resist posting another Burrowing Owl image :).
Taken at pre dawn. The light here is just amazing at sunrise. The pink is a glow when the sun is just below the horizon, only very long wavelength red color lights could get bent over the mountains, short vavelength blue light got blocked. This condition exists only for a few minutes before the sun got over the mountains.

I broke down and removed the band on one of the legs. See if you can tell which one.
Added a sliver of canvas to the right. Otherwise FF.
What amazing eyes in the perfect pose! Wonderful color, detail and sharpness. Seeing the feet would of course be nice but the rest of the image more than makes up for it.
Wow those eyes! I also love the texture of the feathers on the head and upper back. Excellent vertical comp with the leanng pose adding lots of interest. Unfortunate about the FG IMO, but still quite a strong image - I don't blame you for posting more Burrowing Owls :-)
Oh, and good job removing the band - I can't tell which leg so I am going to guess the far one....
Hi Loi, exquisite light, and just love the eye contact here showing up those lovely big eyes. Your vertical comp works well, and seeing the feet would have been first prize. I think you removed the band on the far leg. Great work if it was.
First of all...love your owl series. Keep on posting.
The eyes are incredible. Love the color, the mood and the setting sun in the eye. I wish it was mine even with the feet not visible. Great work, indeed.
Yes, the band was removed from the far leg. Getting the feet was not possible in this instant as I would have to raise the lens up quite a bit and shoot down on the owl, so losing that magical light in the BG and not having the piercing eyes looking straight into the lens. Thank you for your comments. Loi
Although having the feet would have taken this really over the top, it is still a superb image as presented.
The light is not only beautiful but has also had the added bonus of showing the eyes off to their fullest, and the detail is superb, even more so shooting at 1000mm with that shutter speed.
Love the light, the amazing eyes, and feathers of the forehead. For me the bird is well too large in the frame. The clump of dirt between the legs and the dark thing just below the tail could all be dealt with in about two minutes if that fits your style.
