    Captured this takeoff in Jan. of 2015 at a partially frozen nearby lake. C&C welcome.

    D700, Nikon 500mm, 1/500s, f 9, ISO 250, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.


    Added a bit of real-estate to the left in cs6.

    Hi Geoffrey,do like the way you have captured the Swan which looks nicely exposed and the trailing legs in the water,would prefer it without the ice strips but we take what we can get.

    I like the swan's pose, and good job on the whites. I also like the lines on the water's surface. The ice does distract from the beautiful subject IMO, and there is a dust bunny begging to be removed underneath the neck :-)

    Hi Geoff, well timed for the take off, and I like the raised wings on take off. Well exposed, and the Swan pops from the darker water BG. The trailing droplets add to the image.

    Handsome take-off pose, with good light and exposure on the upraised wings. Trailing feet and drops are a bonus. In the abstract perhaps the ice is a distraction, but it does provide some context -- time and place.
