Hi Keith, lovely colour palette which works well with the subjects plumage. Great detail, especially in the legs, DoF looks spot on, however I still think you are not doing yourself any favours with the SS & ISO. No harm in going for 1/1600, especially shooting from the car and D4, do it justice and yourself. Love the texture on the post and even the rusty wire (for me), it adds interest. Personally I might loose a little off the top.
Great to see you getting out and about, looks like your PP is also moving on in the right direction, well done.

Hi Keith, lovely angle from the Snipe, and I really like the detail and colours on him. I do like how the BG colours compliment the Snipe. I dont mind the wire, as it was there, but here is my version by levelling the top of the post and cropping just above the wire. By levelling the post, the Snipe is not off balance at all.
Terrific look at the Snipe, with perfect head turn. Around here they are usually hidden in the grass. Beautiful background. Repost works for me.
Cheers Steve and Stu,like the views of you both about the post and the wire was pleased with this Snipes choice they can of course pick brand new posts which are not good. Was not sure about the level of the bird think your repost Stu does address this issue but am not sure how but it does look right.Steve not had the camera out for some time so it's back to the drawing board a bit re iso and shutter speed.
Keith.
Hi Keith, I like Stu's alternative, so food for thought for you.
I would not use Auto ISO on the D4 personally, but just keep that SS high, as the D4 can easily handle the ISO. Great to know you are out & about, hope the LO's & BO's are doing well, all the best.
Nice shot of a very cool looking bird, nice and sharp, beautiful BG. I would just clone out the wire instead of re-cropping, if it bothers you.

The Snipe Master strikes again!! The techs look great and I would either crop as Stu did or clone out the wire as Tim suggested. Either way, this one rocks!

Great look at a this beautiful bird, Keith. Personally I like the original, with nice detail and a lovely complimentary BG. Like the defused light quality too.

This is beautiful Keith. Love the BG and the bird and the post is really nice. I like Tim's suggestion of cloning out the wire.
Well done!
Absolutely super Keith, one day I will get a shot like this - I keep dreaming!
Thanks to you all,Bill we still have plenty in the grass,Tim the wires do seem to cause a problem and must admit I don't mind it, and it might be a bit above me to remove it,thanks David much appreciated,Geoffrey was lucky to get some light that I had which is a bit short around here, thanks a lot Glennie, thanks Jon and Steve again I do like my Snipe hunting even though it can be a bit frustrating.
Cheers Keith.

I am in envy, I remember your snipe images from last year. I like this one a lot, beautiful bird nicely shown, perfect background, interesting perch. Thank you for sharing, Keith.
