    Default Grey Seal from Helgoland

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Hello folks
just a simple wide portrait of an roughly 1/2 year old youngster .. still having the baby face ... and being very often separated from the bigger ones
Image taken in late afternoon light with a not favorable sun angle ..... but animals and location are dictating the options in parts ...

Hope you still like this one somehow

    Canon EOS 1D x
    EF 200-400 with TC engaged
    HH

F 5,6 ; Iso 2000 ; 1/1000 sec .... with hindsight i would have liked to see a higher ISO for more SS

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; cropped to 75 % of FF ...

Thanks for watching and commenting to the previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Nice image, I don't think you needed more shutter speed but I do think it could be lightened a bit, may 1/4-1/3 of a stop in post.

Nice one Andreas. One of those shots which one likes but is not always sure why. I agree about the lightening a little but one would have to mind the white areas back of the neck. Would do for me as is. An animal I will never see anyway so good stuff.

Hi Andrea, nice, clean portrait, all works for me.

I like the lighting and soft warm tones, looks all natural, and the low POV is key, always works to get down to eye level. Can't see why you would lighten the whites or highlights, as you would loose tone & detail???? Looks bang on to me.

My only thought would be to loose the highlight LHS by the head and to have a fraction less on the LHS and more to the RHS to look into, as this is a crop I'm sure it's achievable if you think it helps.
    Nice PP Andreas.

Looks bang on to me, if I were to change anything perhaps reduce the crop a little bit, but maybe you cropped to this size because the background was less favourable.

Hi Andreas - Nice low pov and interesting to see all the different tones and colors in his coat. You handled the difficult light well. Agree about toning down the specular highlight and perhaps a little more room around.

Thank you so much folks , for all your positive feedback , good to be back and get them .... positive or negative
Might help me to find back onto track ... .... as i am still struggling a bit , but before one might ask , all ok on my side

Steve and Rachel i see what you are asking for .... this part also poked me in the eye ... but for my reset ... i thought i leave that in and it is a minor thing for me .
Sadly i cannot go wider on RHS ..... i would also like to have more on that side , but as this guy was looking to the opposite direction i was to slow for changing the FP , so i had to take the option shoot or miss the shot .

Anyway thanks again , cheers Andreas

I like this pretty much as is Andreas, S/S is fine, not sure why you would want or need more in this instance?, agree on a little more to the right and less on the left.
The blue band of water enhances nicely here.

Nice soft look to this one, Andreas.
I like the pleasing colours and the pose too, nicely framed and I am fine with space on either side as posted.

Excellent fine detail on the Seal and the surrounding sand,do see anything that change would improve this Andreas.
