Another from my garden hide, yes I need to get out a bit more, but it helps with the learning process.
    Thank you for looking.

Looks pretty good Graham My favourite pose too as you know. I would drop the gamma a teeny teemy bit or get a little guts into the blacks especially on the right wing and tail where the light has reflected.. Just my take. A slightly smaller image or bigger aperrture would have helped with the tail detail. Still nice as is though.
Love the bG and perch !

    Graham:

    Nice perch, pose, exposure, bg.

The focus point appears to be on the back, and the face is just a bit soft because of that.

When I was starting out with birds, I spent a lot of time shooting at home, where I could get lots of practice in! Great way to perfect your techniques!

Hi Graham, lovely pose showing off all the various colours, and I do like the lichen covered perch. I agree with regards to the point of focus, and since you were battling for light, a smaller aperture may not have been an option, as probably being quite close too, and have the whole bird in the DOF range.

You have a lovely bird and pose, great BG and interesting perch. I would simply sharpen the head a bit more. Remember to focus on your subject's eye, and then recompose.
