Left-to-right, the transition from industry to nature is very good, but -- with the left plume of smoke in front of the background trees of the farm -- industry looks like it's more in the foreground than nature and should be larger. I'd try changing the size of one or both so the foreground buildings of both are consistent.
It appears that the entire sky is from the industry shot and the farm shot had a lighter sky. If that's right, adjusting the mask that eliminated the brighter sky could take care of the light edges at the tops of the background trees. Alternatively, a Darker Color blend mode (perhaps in combination with a loose selection of the parts of the factory shot you want visible might be an easier way to handle it.
I do like what you're showing (it's consistent with something I Just read about what images can say to the viewer), and black & white was a great choice.
As I read your comments, Dennis, I thought, yes, he's right. Then I remembered that I had done another version that possibly answers some of your comments. See what you think.
This one works better in a number of ways. One of the things that I can imagine, now, is the nearly horizontal upper utility wires from the factory joining up with those at the farm, and that's consistent with the title.
I think your second posting does address some of the issues. I like the subtle detail of the lines of the farm gates leading into the lines of the parking barrier. And there is a much better transition in the sky now.
I live close to a nuclear plant here in a mostly rural part of Arkansas. I have an uneasy acceptance that I mostly put out of my mind, simply because I have no control.
Hi, Hazel, I like the second post much better and it addresses Dennis' concerns.![]()
