I really feel that I am learning lots from this wonderful site and hopefully here is a good example.
This is one of the images I took after reading Artie's excellent Exposure Simplified article and which I mentioned in my post from yesterday (taken before having read the article) and which is here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=13528
As you can see the bird is in the same spot and conditions were pretty similar (bright sunshine) and at roughly the same time of day. I did have more reach for this second shot (560mm against 420mm) but I think that the main difference is that I got the exposure right this time resulting in a much cleaner image with more vibrant colours. Sadly no fish but I think it's a much better shot. I'd be fascinated to know whether you agree.
Taken with a 40D + 400m DO with 1.4 Canon TC. ISO 200, F7.1 at 1/800 sec. Evaluative metering with + 1/3 EC.
Fully agree Sean !!! Can't do better with the exposure and it shows !!! Might get some different crop suggestions but is just a mater of taste and I like it as presented !!!! Killer pose and a good looking bird !!!
