This is another image from my rainy, dull day on the Isle of May. The BG is the mist formed by the waves crashing onto the rocks, which this Arctic Tern was close to.

Frame it and hang it on the wall! I love the way that the outstretched wing is leading the bird right across the picture. Very artistic. The light is lovely and you have handled the exposure very well. Just shows that you don't have to put the camera away just because it's raining.

I like the far wing, it looks sharp but the near wing position plus the head that's turned away really hurt this image

Thanks for the critique Arash, appreciated, but, IMO the head is looking ahead, not 'turned away'.

it's not completely turned away but enough to hurt the image IMO. It just isn't working for me

The far wing and head juxtaposed in front of it are pretty good. The face is parallel to the sensor, but turned away relative to body angle, hence the "feel" of it being less than ideal. Pretty neat picture, and I like that the eye is so clearly visible.

Nice shot William but I get the feeling of the head turned away too. Everything else looks pretty good considering the ugly shooting conditions, so well done in that department. Nice comp too.

I love this image for the lighting on the BG that frames the bird so beautifully. The head looks very sharp and I don't mind the angle, as it is obviously looking at something intently and the look follows the line of the wing so well.

I'd prefer just a tiny bit more canvas on the left.

Will, I lurk a lot around this forum and don't comment often because of my lack of knowledge in this craft...but, to me, this image sings. The pose of the bird, from tail to wing tip flows beautifully out of the BG.
