Ross's Goose
Ross's Goose shot this around Thanksgiving at Bosque.
Canon 7DII 500f4+1.4. ISO 400,F5.6@ 1/2500 second.
Fullframe RAW converted in DPP. One round of Neat NR run on the BG to soften it a little,a touch of detail extractor ran on the bill and feet and just the white of the bird sharpened in PS. Any and all CC welcomed.

Great landing pose, and amazingly well composed for a full frame capture. Couldn't ask for better. The goose stands out well despite all of the other white geese in the BG. Still, all of that whiteness does pull the eye away a bit. I don't know if there is a way to darken the bg slightly without making it look grey.

Wow, this one is deadly Joe---every shade of the white spectrum looks perfect, the black wingtips not too black, and ivory feather fully displayed and spot on focus. Trying to get an image like this is what keeps me out there. Interesting that the beak and feet are orangish rather than the muddy pink of our white geese here on the west coast flyway.

Well done Joe, very nice indeed. Agree with Bill about the geese in the BG, but the main subject is so eye catching, it makes up for it.

Thanks guys!
Yes Artie it was early one of the afternoons. I was thinking about the framing and I'm pretty sure I used auto point selection to place the bird where I wanted in the frame. I remember you talking about it the evening before as we were shooting cranes dropping in over the mountains. It was a fun time for sure.
