Another shot from my back garden hide, all C&C welcome.
Nice action shot here Jonathan, like the BG and the little lumps of soil in the air, nice detail, but I think the tree is a bit too much in the frame.TFS.
Hi Jon, as per the previous image, you need more FG below I feel and I find the stump too dominating in the overall scene, but love the texture & detail.
Like the flying debris and the techs look good, nice to see more ISO/SS. I think the head looks lifted, likewise the eye when you think/look at the light, but could be wrong, although everything is an even light???? Personally I would like some more 'tonality' overall to create depth in the image, but just my take.
Good to see you having fun with this species, nice one.
A sweet timing and action shot, i think the suggestions above are spot on. Hopefully you have a some canvas with that nice bkg, to add more, and perhaps reduce via crop or another reframed image, as the ratio/balance of the image is affected by the larger trunk.....The debris isn the air and sharp details are certainly bonuses!! Good Shooting!!
I find this image to be quite interesting. Love seeing new behaviors and that flying debris. It's always a plus if an image helps to educate the viewers on the behavior of a species, and those are the images that I truly strive for.
I am ok with the size of the tree trunk however that one twig on the bird's breast is a bit distracting. That said, I understand how the WP created this scene with his crazy digging.
Hi Jon
Have come back to this a few times but I am sorry it just does not work for me. The stump would never sort of pop out of the ground like that which makes the whole thing say setuo. Doing garden stuff at setups is never easy I admit.
Photo wise though if thats what you want -fine.
