Here is another shot of this very friendly Eastern Bluebird from Negri-Nepote Grasslands in New Jersey. From the last post Arash mentioned that it is best to have the head parallel to the back of the camera for a shot like this. I have probably 100 of them that are like that but I like this one the most I think although it is not 100% parallel. Also Daniel mentioned that he thought the other was had a bit too much room on top. I happened to be standing closer on this shot so the square crop does not have too much room on the top. Background is all natural. Have to love the grasslands.
Canon 7d2 and Canon 500mm ii + 1.4x iii. ISO 500, F 7.1, SS 1/2500. 15 point expansion with 2 focus points on upper chest. Bird had just landed and I was trying to get it coming in which is why I was in expansion. After that I switched to single focus point.
Converted in DPP 4 with auto white balance. In PS adjusted highlights and shadows, smart sharpened, applied noise reduction to background and use NIK tonal contrast/white neutralizer filter. Cropped square.
