Image captured early morning (5am) in overcast conditions. The chain is stretched across an inlet leading into a restricted wildlife reservation to stop boats from entering.
Unusual - never seen a heron on a chain before, I like the shot, good details, I think there is a slight magenta cast, I would also suggest lifting the darker tones a tad, otherwise great.
(Would suggest the TC III is a good investment especially with the Series II zoom - still very sharp, and not too much aberration not too sure if the 1D4 would exploit the focusing speed)
I love those feet on the chain! He looks determined to hold on. I like the composition and crop, but could go for just a touch more on the bottom if you have it. If not, no big deal.
For a bird on a chain, this one is pretty special. There is definitely some magenta in the gray feathers on the bird's left side... a
