    An afternoon shot from last week.
    If you look close you can see the fish near the end of the shorter beak, you might even make out the protective nictitating membrane over its eye.

    Great looking action shot Tim. Love the snapped back head as it catches a fish and the water splash adds a lot to the image. Perfect comp too. Well done

    Amazing shot indeed Tim. Love the water splash. Haven't had a chance to visit Bolsa Chica since we last met. How busy is it these days? Have the Pelicans shown up yet?

    Took me a while to work out exactly what is happening here but now that I see it I am amazed by the acrobatics performed by the bird to capture such a little fish. You must have really been on your toes to capture this amazing moment. TFS

    I love these birds and happy to see this post. Nice splash and a well caught moment. The body position is strange for that reason I find it interesting to look at, especially with the chosen crop. Well done.
