This image of a Whistling kite taking off from it`s perch was created at the Paiwalla wetlands in South Australia. Australian sunlight can be very harsh and the birds perch in high trees at this wetland. Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, EF600mm f/4L IS II USM +1.4x III, 1/3200, f5.6, ISO 1250. DPP 4 / CS 6, comments welcome. Thanks to everyone for commenting on my previous image in this series.
Lots to like ie. great bird, nice BG sky color and good perch.
I would crop in slightly from the LHS to get rid of most of the OOF part of the perch and clone out what was left on the edge.
The light created lots of shadows but you dealt with them well in your processing.
In a perfect world the tip of the beak would not intersect with the wing and the near wing position would be in more of a downstroke position.
Lovely catchlight.
